Alternative Route to Pokhara: Road Updates Needed for Motorbike & Tourist Bus Travel (trip date: 10th sep - 18th sep 2026)

Hello everyone,

I’m aware that the Prithvi Highway is currently blocked around Krishnabhir due to the landslide. I have a few friends who are planning to travel to Pokhara in the next few days, and we’re trying to figure out the best alternative.

They are planning to travel by motorbike, so I’d really appreciate it if anyone could suggest an alternative route that avoids the affected section and is currently safe and accessible.

We’re also considering taking a flight, but it would be a bit over budget. As for the bus, I’m not sure whether travelling by road is a good option at the moment. Are tourist buses currently operating and able to reach Pokhara, or are they also affected by the road blockage?

If anyone has recently travelled to Pokhara or has updated information about alternative bike routes, road conditions, or accessible routes to pokhara from kathmandu, please share your suggestions.

Hi Nirajan,
Dont know about the tourist bus, but you can reach to any tourist bus and ask about the bus route, how ever for the motorbike route , we recently went to pokhara via hetauda, you can follow this map given link below:

It took us about 9hours, First kathmandu to hetauda was bit chaotic because everyone is heading through the same route due to road block after hetauda road was okay, ride to bharatpur and muglin then reach to pokhara !

is it obvious that the route below takes about "13 hr 14 min (457 km)"
Kathmandu > Hetauda > Narayangarh > Mugling > Pokhara.

is it true, could you guess if the direct KTM > MUGLING > PKR road is under reconstruction and by any chance of opening within 2-3 months?

Hi namaste, Few of my guests on motorbike left Kathmandu to Pokhara two days ago, they said it took them only 9hours, they ride from ktm to hetauda, due to diversion there is bit traffic to hetauda. After that road was okay, bridges are open they even ask traffic and show them the road. They went to bharatpur and mugling and reach to pokhara. You can check the message they have send us. Due to traveling season, i think they will complete road soon. Our guest are coming back to Kathmandu this will. I will share the exact route once they back to Kathmandu.
