If you’re planning a trip to Upper Mustang now, here are suggestions:

  • Consider delaying the start until more favourable weather (clear trails, roads open, stable conditions).
  • If you go now:
    • Use experienced local trekking agency (they know current conditions).
    • Build in extra buffer days in your itinerary for delays.
    • Pack robust cold-weather gear (warm gloves, hat, thermal layers, waterproof outer layer).
    • Focus on lower elevation parts initially; consider skipping very high sections if conditions are risky.
  • Monitor local weather updates and trail/road status in Mustang, as mountain weather can change quickly.
